Goughs Bay

Lake Eildon VIC

About Goughs Bay

Distance from Melbourne - 3hr drive

Accessibility - I managed easily in an i30 towing a Jet-ski

In true Alex fashion, I had work the Friday and Saturday in Torquay, but was I going to let that stop me heading away for the long weekend? Nope! So I packed up my car Friday night ready to head away after work Saturday. I finished at 3 so would make it back to Vermont by about 5, not too late! Once I got to Vermont I reversed up to the Jet Ski and packed my wetsuit shorts and ski and rope, ready to go, right? Wrong.. We have a lock on the Jet Ski trailer, and unfortunately the key for that lock was on my dads keys, at Eildon..

After searching for a few hours and trying to get in contact with him, we finally found the spare key, and off I headed. I got to Goughs Bay at about 10pm.

Thankfully our family friends had rented a house for the weekend so I rocked up, took the jet-ski down to the water where some of dads friends were camping and unhitched, came back to the house and set up my mattress in the lounge room, where my cousin and dad were already set up.

Day One

Up and ready to go at about 8am, breaky was cooked up and we headed to the waters edge. I jumped in the boat and took a few of the boys for a ski or wakeboard, whatever they wanted, and dad followed on the Jet Ski. After everyone had a tow, dad decided to turn off the Jet Ski to 'see if it would start again' and it didn't.. So I towed the Jet Ski back into the bank and onto the trailer it went.. about 10am on day one... But the family friends we were staying with had their Jet Ski so if we wanted a go then we could take that.

I finally had my first ski for the season, bit disappointed but not surprised in how unfit I am considering the happenings of the past year. Most of the day was spent with me driving the boat, or sitting and relaxing in the sunshine, much needed rest break.

Day Two

As usual, I was looking a bit sunburnt.. Nothing too bad though. I was incredibly sore from the ski the day previously, so I spent the day observing. Yet another much needed relaxing day. We all packed up and headed off about 2 or 3pm. My cousin Brady came home in my car, so the trip home was filled with singing along to The Veronicas and whatever else came up on my USB. Once I had dropped him off back home, I headed back to Vermont to start to unpack myself and get some food.

Nothing super noteworthy for the weekend, thankfully. No huge events or mishaps, aside from the beginning with the Jet Ski... It was a nice few days away and definitely much needed.

Until my next adventure,

Alex
